The Rocky Horror Show

Few shows can create an atmosphere quite like The Rocky Horror Show, and this latest UK tour certainly delivers on the high-energy, outrageous fun that has made it a cult classic for over 50 years. With audience members dressed in fishnets, corsets, and lab coats, and plenty of enthusiastic shout-outs, Milton Keynes Theatre felt more like a wild party than a traditional night at the theatre.

From the moment the show began, the crowd was fully invested, joining in with every well-timed callback and dancing along at every opportunity. Audience participation is a huge part of Rocky Horror’s appeal, and this crowd did not disappoint—every heckle was met with a perfectly placed response, making for a truly electric experience.

One of the highlights of the night was Nathan Caton as The Narrator. Forget the elderly gent in a dressing gown and step up one of the UK's top young black comedians.  Unflappable and effortlessly charismatic, he handled the constant audience quips with razor-sharp wit, throwing in some brilliant topical jokes that had the crowd roaring with laughter and wasn't afraid to bring his own spin to the role, never missing a beat and really giving the show a fresh twist.

Adam Strong was a fantastic Frank N Furter, commanding the stage with charisma and playfulness. He brought his own flair to the role while still honouring the iconic character, adding extra touches that made his performance feel fresh and exciting. His delivery of “Sweet Transvestite” was a standout moment, earning huge cheers.

The supporting cast was equally strong, with Connor Carson and Lauren Chia making a delightfully awkward Brad and Janet, and Job Greuter’s Riff Raff delivering just the right mix of eerie and eccentric. Natasha Hoeberigs as Magenta, Stacey Monahan understudying as Columbia, and Morgan Jackson as Rocky all brought energy and personality to their roles.

Of course, it wouldn’t be The Rocky Horror Show without its legendary soundtrack, and every number was met with huge enthusiasm from the audience. “Dammit, Janet” was as delightfully cheesy as ever, and the final reprise of “The Time Warp” had the whole theatre on its feet, turning the venue into a full-blown party with everyon singing, clapping, and dancing along.

The set and lighting design helped to create the perfect blend of sci-fi camp and gothic glamour, with dramatic colours and striking effects that enhanced the larger-than-life feel of the production. Costumes were, as expected, wonderfully extravagant, staying true to the show’s outrageous roots.

The Rocky Horror Show is as wild, hilarious, and entertaining as ever. Whether you're a long-time fan or a Rocky Horror first-timer, this production guarantees a night of unfiltered fun. With a brilliant cast, a phenomenal atmosphere, and a final Time Warp that will leave you grinning, it’s unmissable fun. Just don’t forget to bring your best shout-outs!
