Midsummer Place is proud to announce its active support of Purple Tuesday, a global initiative focused on enhancing the customer experience for people with disabilities.
In close collaboration with local influencer Hannah Burgess, who has been visually impaired since birth, Midsummer Place is working to highlight the importance of accessibility.
Recently, Hannah sat down with Chris Gregg at the new Horizon Radio, located within Midsummer Place, to share insights on her experiences, biggest challenges, and her goals in partnering with businesses to advance the mission of Purple Tuesday.
Hannah Burgess said “Working with Midsummer place has been a pleasure. They've been so open, and willing to do whatever they can to make things more accessible for people like me. I'm incredibly grateful and can't wait to share the positive outcomes of Purple Tuesday”
Midsummer Place has joined forces with The BID and Centre:MK to make the city “Purple”.
On the 12 November, Midsummer Place will host local organisations including YMCA, MK SNAP, Woodlands School, Cineworld, in order to champion accessibility and inclusivity in the Milton Keynes community.
Purple Tuesday brings organisations together to enhance accessibility, helping businesses and communities better understand and support the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Midsummer Place is committed to making tangible improvements to ensure every visitor feels welcome and accommodated.
With guidance from accessibility expert Hannah Burgess, Midsummer Place and its partners have implemented a range of initiatives aimed at raising awareness and educating the community on the importance of accessible spaces. These initiatives include additional staff
training to improve service quality for customers with disabilities and incorporating picture and video descriptions across social media platforms.
"We’re thrilled to be part of Purple Tuesday and to work alongside such dedicated organisations and professionals" said Kirsty McGiff, Marketing Manager at Midsummer Place. "Our goal is to create a truly welcoming space for everyone, and Purple Tuesday has given us a platform to amplify our commitment to accessibility"
The partnership with local organisations highlights a shared commitment to inclusivity and community support in Milton Keynes. Through events, workshops, and activities, Midsummer Place and its partners aim to make a lasting impact that will benefit the local community long
after Purple Tuesday.
