Ghost Stories

Ghost Stories, created by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman, is not for the faint-hearted! This thrilling theatrical experience masterfully blends chuckles, chills, and jump scares, keeping audiences on edge from start to finish. With just the right mix of suspense, shocks, and dark humour, it’s an unforgettable night at the theatre.

I can't reveal too much—audiences are sworn to secrecy—but here’s what’s safe to say: The story follows Professor Goodman (played by the compelling Dan Tetsell), a parapsychologist determined to debunk paranormal activity with science. As he investigates three eerie encounters—witnessed by a night watchman, a teenage boy, and a businessman—the show transports you to the exact moments these terrifying events unfolded.

A standout element of this production is the cast and stagecraft. Dan Tetsell’s performance as Professor Goodman is commanding and engaging, expertly balancing humour with an authoritative presence. His opening lecture sets the stage perfectly, drawing the audience into a world where logic and fear collide.

The stagecraft is incredible the way it is used to manipulate fear. From plunging darkness to eerie flickering lights, the production plays with shadows and silence, keeping the audience constantly on edge. Just when you think you can relax, sudden loud noises and unexpected visual shocks jolt you back into terror. The set design is deceptively simple yet incredibly immersive, seamlessly shifting between locations, each brought to life through atmospheric lighting and sound.

Overall, Ghost Stories is a rollercoaster of emotions. One moment you're laughing—the next, you’re leaping out of your seat. While some have compared it to The Woman in Black, the two productions offer very different types of fear. Ghost Stories is faster-paced and more fragmented, featuring three distinct tales, each packed with theatrical jump scares, sudden loud noises, and spine-chilling suspense—and the frights start right from the beginning!

If you’re looking for a night of spine-tingling suspense, be warned—this one might just stay with you long after the curtain falls.
